Not all of our lessons follow the South Carolina state science standards but are still lots of fun! We call these lessons our “STEM Workshops” and they are for a wide variety of ages. We offer these workshops for K-12th grade students as well as for adults. Explore the options and schedule your workshop today!

Nature Walks (K-Adults)

  • Take a guided walk with a SSC staff member and learn all about native plants and animals along the way
  • Ages Kindergarten and up! 
  • 45-60 minute walk
  • Minimum of 5 students and maximum of 30 students (Must have a group together before scheduling)
  • $10 per student

Science of Self Care (K-Adults)

  • Self care is so important! Join us to make your own bath salts, body scrubs, and lip balm. We will talk about ways to take care of your mind and body as well as some of the science behind self care!
  • Ages Kindergarten and up! 
  • 60 minute lesson
  • Minimum of 5 students and maximum of 25 students (Must have a group together before scheduling)
  • $115/hr if held at the SSC and $125/hr if held at your location

Terrarium Building (K-Adults)

    • Come build a bioactive terrarium with us and learn all about the science behind terrariums.
    • Ages Kindergarten and up!  
    • 40 minute lesson
    • Minimum of 5 students and maximum of 25 students (Must have a group together before scheduling)
    • $20 per student if we provide the jar
    • $15 per student if you bring your own jar
      • We will provide all other materials regardless of if we provide the jar

Animals and Adaptations (K-Adults)

  • Meet the reptiles from our animal room and learn all about their natural environments and adaptations!
  • Adults only (PreK-8 have lessons like this that follows the SC Science Standards!)
  • 60 minute lesson
  • Minimum of 5 students and maximum of 30 students (Must have a group together before scheduling) 
  • $100/hr if held at the SSC or $125/hr if held at your location
