Our Rooms
Thanks to a generous gift from Contec Inc, the Center secured a 675 sq foot space that has extended our footprint on the second floor of the Chapman Cultural Center and is home to the new Contec Media Center. The Contec Media Center hosts several new programs including Stepping into STEM, the Science Center Virtual Studio, The Project Place powered by the SAM, and a podcast studio space for our new ‘Out of the Lab With…’ podcast produced by our Wofford Bonner Scholars in partnership with STEAM leaders in the community.
Our ‘Out of the Lab With…’ Podcast has launched! This series will showcase STEM professionals in the Spartanburg area, interviewed by Wofford Bonner Scholar, Grayson. Educators for students 3rd-12th grades will have access to these auditory and visual podcasts for use in the classroom. They will focus on why they chose the particular STEM topic to make their life’s work, what classes should students focus on in high school and what colleges are the best fit for their chosen topic. Questions will be taken from students prior to the podcast. Educators will be provided with a schedule to share with their students. Contact science@spartanarts.org with questions.
Video recording and streaming studio where virtual learning series are produced by educators and science center staff, and programming can be live streamed directly to students. Contact mlevens@spartanarts.org for more info.
Milliken Learning Space opens for extended STEAM programming at the Center.
Thanks to a generous gift from Milliken & Co. the Science Center was able to annex a new space adjacent to the museum for extended programming. The Milliken Learning Space will host summer camps, after school robotics club, and sessions for lifelong learners starting in 2022. A beautiful new mural was created for the space by local artist Jeremy Kemp. Contact mlevens@spartanarts.org to reserve the space for your future meetings and events!
