TUESDAY ANIMAL OF THE WEEK

Meet Mikey the Afghan or Russian Tortoise! Originally called Dimitri, Mikey gained a second name because he’s notorious for eating just about anything. Afghan Tortoises are super cool because they were the first species to circle the moon in Russia’s Zond 5 Mission!
Follow along in our Instagram and Facebook stories on Tuesday to learn about this unique species.

WONDERFUL SCIENTIST WEDNESDAY

Head over to the Science Center blog on Wednesday as we celebrate Memorial Day by learning about Flight Corps Nurse Ruth Gardiner. In World War II, Ruth was the first nurse who gave her life in service. We are grateful for the work of our service people and frontline workers! Read our blog to learn more about Ruth and a little-known battle during World War II on Alaska’s Aleutian Islands.

THURSDAY LIVE LUNCH LESSON WITH JESS

Join Jess in the creek as learn more about Hellbenders, the mysterious amphibians that inhabit our rivers here in the South East. Roll up your pant legs, we may not spot a hellbender– but who knows what else we will catch! We’ll be on our own River Monster adventure! Tune in Thursday at 1pm! Watch LIVE on Facebook | Watch later on YouTube
